The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, located on the Blue Nile River in Ethiopia, has been under construction since 2011 and was 90% complete in 2023. The dam has created controversy with downriver countries like Sudan and Egypt, who are concerned about drought as the reservoir is rapidly filled.
