Before and after: Ukraine’s drone strike on Belaya Air Base in Russia.
On June 1st, Ukraine targeted five Russian airbases with more than 100 drones. Belaya, seen here, in Irkutsk Oblast, was one of the most heavily damaged. Satellite imagery confirms the destruction of several long-range bombers, including Tu-95s and Tu-22M3s — aircraft that are no longer in production and critical to Russia’s cruise missile force. Vladimir Putin has vowed retaliation for the massive strike.
As of June 2025, the war has resulted in approximately 1.4 million military casualties, including around 1 million Russian and 400,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed or wounded.
