Hurricane Helene Damages in Florida

Hurricane Helene struck Florida on Thursday as a Category 4 storm, the strongest on record to hit the Big Bend region — where the Florida Panhandle meets the Florida Peninsula along the Gulf of Mexico. This Reel shows damages sustained by the coastal communities of Horseshoe Beach, Fish Creek and Keaton Beach, where a potential 90% of homes have been damaged. After leaving Florida, Helene roared across the southeastern United States, leaving destruction across 10 states, more than one million Americans without electricity, and caused more than 100 deaths.
