Catastrophic flooding from Hurricane Helene has inundated western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee, submerging homes, spurring mudslides and compromising dams throughout the region. This helicopter footage shows floodgates surging and a mass of downed trees at the Waterville Dam in Haywood County, North Carolina, where hundreds living downstream were evacuated on Monday. Cloudy weather conditions have prevented us from showing new satellite imagery in this region, but we will post Overviews in the coming days as it becomes available.
