Each summer, the Tomorrowland festival site in Boom, Belgium transforms from rural land into a sprawling, multi-stage complex for over 400,000 attendees. The construction of the 2019 event is seen here.
But yesterday, just two days before the festival’s opening, a massive fire broke out during a pyrotechnics test, engulfing the ice-themed main stage and reportedly destroying 75% of the structure. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and organizers are moving forward by shifting performances to other stages and vowing to preserve the spirit of the festival.
