This Timelapse shows the scale of destruction across the Gaza Strip over the past two years — months marked by relentless Israeli bombardment, ground invasions, tens of thousands of deaths, and the displacement of nearly the entire population following the October 7th attacks. As seen in the imagery, neighborhoods have been flattened, infrastructure has been reduced to rubble, and entire communities have been erased from the map.
We are posting this in light of today’s announcement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel plans to take control of the entire territory, a statement widely understood to rule out the possibility of Palestinian self-governance in Gaza. His security cabinet has since approved a plan to occupy Gaza City, paving the way for an expanded takeover, even as military leaders warn of risks to Israeli hostages and other international leaders condemn the move.
