Tesla Giga Texas

Tesla Giga Texas

Giga Texas is one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the United States. Built between 2020 and 2022 near Austin, it spans 2,500 acres along the Colorado River and now produces Tesla’s electric vehicles and battery cells. The main building alone covers more than 10 million square feet — enough to fit over 180 basketball courts under one roof.

Developed with public support, the factory became a showcase for Tesla’s growth and the U.S. shift toward EVs. But it now sits in the middle of a political feud, as Elon Musk and President Trump trade public threats — raising questions about federal support and the future of electric vehicles in the U.S., where EVs made up about 10% of new car sales last year.
