Aerial imagery collected on August 1 shows active wildfires burning through Spokane, Washington, with many homes already destroyed. The blazes broke out that afternoon and jumped the Spokane River, pushing into neighborhoods like Indian Trail on the city’s north side.
More than 600 structures have been destroyed so far, a number expected to rise as damage assessments continue, and roughly 60,000 people have been ordered to evacuate under a state of emergency declared by the state’s governor.
