Drifting islands are found in the wetlands near the Atlantic Shore of Angola. Surrounded by dark crescents of water, the islands appear to detach from the surrounding marsh and move slowly across the pools. These formations can develop when dense mats of aquatic plants break away from the marsh, and then get shaped by wind, currents, or changing water levels.
