The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array — also known as ALMA — is a group of 66 radio telescopes in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile. At 16,000 feet (5,000 m) above sea level, the telescopes observe electromagnetic radiation and are expected to provide detailed imaging of local star and planet formation. ALMA is an international partnership among Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Chile.-23.019300°, -67.753200°
