Year in Review: Libya Floods
We’re continuing to recap some of 2023’s biggest events, as seen from space.
In September, the city of Derna, Libya, was heavily damaged by flooding after torrential rainfall from Storm Daniel caused two dams above the city to collapse. Approximately 25% of the city was washed into the Mediterranean Sea, resulting in more than 3,200 confirmed deaths and thousands more injured and displaced.
