UN Climate Report
Deforestation is seen in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. A new United Nations climate report, released today, predicts Earth will cross a critical global warming benchmark within the next decade. By 2035, average global temperatures are expected to reach 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels, creating a "rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all.” The UN has called on countries to rapidly reach net-zero carbon emissions to prevent catastrophic effects that would occur with continued warming.
