St. Louis
St. Louis, Missouri, seen at a low angle along the Mississippi River.
At the center of the city’s waterfront is the Gateway Arch, the 630-foot monument built to commemorate the city’s role as the “Gateway to the West.” Check out this more zoomed in view:
The city is home to 280,000 people, making it the second largest in Missouri after Kansas City. Downtown St. Louis stretches just behind the arch, with Busch Stadium visible nearby and a network of highways, rail lines, bridges, and barges showing the city’s long-standing connection to transportation, trade, and the river.
