Mount Etna
A road carved into old lava, a macro view, and a 2002 Explosion
A winding road cuts through old lava fields on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Standing around 3,357 meters (11,014 feet) tall, Etna is the highest volcano in Europe and one of the world’s most active, with frequent eruptions that shape the surrounding landscape.
In the second Overview to see a macro-perspective of Etna (where this road is still visible!) and in the third, an out of this world shot of an Etna eruption on October 28, 2002.
