The Kakhovka Dam, located in southern Ukraine, was destroyed today as cascades of water have poured through the breach, putting thousands of people downstream at risk. The dam was located on the Dnieper River and under control of the Russian military at the time it failed. Russian and Ukrainian authorities have blamed each other for the destruction, while thousands of residents are evacuating downstream, with floodwaters submerging several villages in Ukrainian and Russian-controlled areas.
